About Scottish Power business

Scottish Power has around 5.2 million energy customers, with some 130,000 signed up to business tariffs.

Scottish Power is a major investor in wind power in the UK. It is also the third largest electricity distributor and has a workforce of 9,000 employees.

The provider is part of the Iberdrola Group, one of the five largest gas and electricity suppliers in the world and a leader in renewable energy.

Scottish Power business tariffs

Scottish Power offers a range of different tariff options, covering everything from three-year fixed deals to flexible tariffs and a variety of payment options.

According to the provider, signing up to one of its three-year fixed-price tariffs will protect you from market fluctuations and could save your business £500 over the course of a year.

While a fixed-term tariff will shield your business from any unexpected price rises over the course of the contract - and make it easier for you to budget - bear in mind that if prices drop you could end up paying more for your energy. The peace of mind you get with a fixed-price contract might also cost you more than a variable rate plan.

Business users taking a gas or electricity tariff from Scottish Power get:

  • Different contract lengths
  • Dual fuel tariffs if you want to take both gas and electricity from Scottish Power
  • Discount when you pay by direct debit.

Billing & accounts

Paying your Scottish Power bill by direct debit can save you up to £400 a year, according to the supplier.

However, the provider doesn’t actually allow its small business customers to use any other payment method.

Added extras

As well as the fixed-price deals that help you save cash, Scottish Power also offers a range of other benefits for business energy customers:

  • Direct debit offer - save up to £400 on your annual bill
  • Online Energy Service - manage your account where and when it suits you
  • Free access to the Scottish Power Energy Efficiency Helpline - Scottish Power says businesses that haven’t looked seriously at their energy efficiency typically cut consumption by 20% through free and relatively low-cost measures
  • Carbon Footprint calculator - work out the impact your business is having on the environment and how you can become more energy efficient.
