About E.ON business

E.ON was formed in 2000 when two German energy providers, VEBA and VIAG, merged. It has grown into a global company - with more than 500,000 business customers in the UK.

E.ON says that its business customers are so happy with the service that nine out of 10 stay with the provider when the time comes to renew their contract.

E.ON business tariffs

E.ON’s business tariffs are designed for either small-to-medium businesses, or larger organisations.

Whatever your energy consumption, up to 1GWh for electricity or 1.5GWh for gas, you can sign-up to one of E.ON’s business tariffs, choosing from a one, two or three-year fixed-price tariff or dual fuel plan.

You can also choose a Feed In Tariff that lets you generate your own renewable energy. E.ON also offers an EasyGreen tariff that will match each unit of electricity you use with one generated through a renewable wind or hydro source.

Signing up online will give you access to the cheapest tariffs.

Billing & accounts

As an E.ON business customer, you get a choice of different energy meters. Standard meters can either be manually read - where someone will have to visit you property to see how much gas and electricity you've used or you'll have to submit your own meter reading - otherwise you could receive an estimated bill.

The government has set a target to get smart meters installed in the UK’s 27 million homes and businesses by 2019 - and energy suppliers must begin fitting them in 2014.

However, E.ON has committed to installing one million smart meters by March 2014. This new generation of meters allow you to:

  • Track how much energy you're using now and over time
  • Spot where you can make savings
  • Benefit from automatic meter readings, so you won’t receive estimated bills
  • Access E.ON’s dedicated smart meter customer service centre.

You can pay your E.ON bills online, via the Santander website or by direct debit, which will entitle you to an additional annual discount.

Added extras

E.ON has also launched a new smartphone app to help you manage your energy bills on the go. You can download it free from the Apple iTunes app store or the Android Market, and use it manage your account, submit meter readings and even find tips to help you save energy.

You can also take advantage of the Business EnergyManager to help you cut your carbon footprint even further. You can add EnergyManager free to any business electricity plan and use the monitor to track your usage and the software to learn more about the way your company consumes gas and electricity.

Switching energy supplier

When you move into a new property, you'll automatically be put on a “deemed” tariff, which puts you on the same contract as the previous occupants. This could cost you far more than you need to pay so it’s important you compare prices and switch energy supplier to take advantage of the best deals for your business.
